(Queens, NY) – In honor of Environmental Awareness Month, the Red Wall Art Gallery at Resorts World Casino New York City will showcase a new exhibit of art from the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge from April 12 – May 5, 2017. Resorts World will also host a private reception to celebrate the new exhibit on April 21 from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Fifth Avenue Club.

The new exhibit will feature several photographs of wildlife from the refuge. In honor of Earth Day, Resorts World will also partner with the American Littoral Society to do a beach clean-up of Jamaica Bay shorelines on April 23.

The Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge, which is a part of the Gateway National Recreation Area, is one of the most significant bird sanctuaries in the Northeastern United States. More than 330 bird species—nearly half the species in the Northeast— have been sighted at the refuge over the last 25 years.

Jamaica Bay is also home to an impressive array of native reptiles, amphibians, small mammals, over 60 species of butterflies and one of the largest populations of horseshoe crabs in the Northeast. The park’s unique landscape contains a variety of rare native habitats including a salt marsh, upland field and woods, several fresh and brackish water ponds, and an open stretch of bay.

Last month, Resorts World featured an exhibit with the work of Haitian painter and makeup artist Chantal Gesse.
