Since opening in 2011, Resorts World Casino New York City has generated over $1.8 billion to support New York’s education system

Queens, NY—Resorts World Casino New York City generated $361,643,895 in revenue for New York’s Lottery education fund in FY2016/2017, according to the latest Lottery year-end review released today. The revenue generated by the Queens casino was more than any other video gaming facility in the state and more than any of the Lottery’s jackpot games.

Since opening in 2011, Resorts World Casino New York City has generated over $1.8 billion for the education fund, to which it gives approximately 44% of its earnings.

“Resorts World is proud to support New York’s public education system and is committed to continuing to help provide students with a high-quality public education,” said Scott Molina, President of Resorts World Casino New York City. “Our partnership with the State has been extremely beneficial for New Yorkers both in terms of education aid and economic development, and we look forward to an even brighter future.”

In FY 2016/17 alone, Resorts World Casino New York City generated enough revenue for the education fund to:

  • Hire approximately 6,700 new teachers in New York City
  • Supply students across the state with more than 5 million textbooks

Beyond the contribution to New York’s Lottery education fund, Resorts World Casino New York City has fostered significant economic development in the surrounding Queens community and has created more than 1,500 good-paying jobs. In addition, Resorts World Casino New York City has contributed more than $1.7 million in charitable donations, which includes working directly with 79 organizations in Queens to help them achieve fundraising goals.
