Resorts World Casino New York City partnered with the Boys & Girls Club of Metro Queens (BGCMQ) to host its Thirteenth Annual Global Cuisine of Queens Food Tasting event on Wednesday, Nov. 30, at Resorts World New York in Jamaica, Queens.
At the event community leaders, businesses and citizens came together to taste the diverse flavors of Queens in support of the local nonprofit. The event showcased a sampling of over 30 of the finest restaurants, bakeries, caterers, wineries and breweries in Queens, Brooklyn and Long Island, all for the benefit of the Boys & Girls Club. The Boys & Girls Club works to help at-risk youth to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens, and as the community leaders of tomorrow.
As well as supporting Global Cuisine of Queens, Resorts World is a generous sponsor of the Boys & Girls Club’s afterschool educational programming, providing annual grants. These educational programs enhance and reinforce skills and knowledge students have gained in the classroom by providing opportunities for afterschool enrichment. Resorts World has provided significant grants for the past four years to support this critical programming.
“We are excited about this new partnership with Resorts World Casino,” said John J. DeCristoforo, CEO of the BGCMQ. “Their generosity and support will enable us to grow the event and provide our guests with a new experience.
“I would like to thank all of the sponsors, restaurants, wineries and bakeries for helping to make our Global Cuisine of Queens event a success,” DeCristoforo continued. “A very special thanks goes out to Michelle Stoddart, director of Community Relations for Resorts World Casino & BGCMQ Board member, and the entire staff at Resorts World Casino New York for their generosity and gracious hospitality.”
“Resorts World is honored to partner with the Boys & Girls Club to provide vital services and programming to the children and communities of Queens,” said Stoddart. “The Global Cuisine of Queens is one of our favorite events of the year, as it showcases the diversity of our great borough. In sponsoring this event and other programming, we’re thrilled to support the club in their efforts to help at-risk youth reach their full potential and become tomorrow’s community leaders.”
To make this year’s event possible, local restaurants and partners donated food items, such as appetizers, hors d’oeuvres, desserts, main dishes and drinks. Participating vendors included RW Prime, Resorts World’s prime steakhouse and wine bar; Blend on the Water; London Lennie’s; Manhattan Beer; Shake Shack; Firehouse Kitchen TV; Villa Russo; Tom Cat Bakery; and many more.
