Resorts World Casino—which recently celebrated its sixth anniversary—has generated more than $2 billion in revenue for New York’s Lottery education fund since its debut.

During the past six years, the casino has contributed $2,079,037,190 to the state educational fund, which has gone toward hiring approximately 37,000 new teachers, supplying students across the state with more than 27 million textbooks and buying 142 million tickets for Bronx Zoo school field trips.

“Generating more than $2 billion for New York’s public education system is an incredible accomplishment, and we are proud to play a role in generating the vital resources that provide students across the state a high-quality education,” said Scott Molina, president of Resorts World Casino New York City. “Our steady growth over the last six years has led to significant local economic development, community reinvestment and education aid. As we embark on a major expansion project, we look forward to growing our business, which is to the benefit of all New Yorkers.”

Earlier this year, the casino held a groundbreaking for a $400 million expansion project, which includes a 400-room, four-star hotel with five-star suites, four new dining outlets, retail offerings, space to accommodate new gaming systems for millennial customers and a new guest arrival experience.

The project is expected to provide additional revenue for the education fund, generate $200 million in economic activity for the city and add more than 4,000 jobs, which would include well-paying career jobs within the casino and construction jobs.
