Resorts World Casino New York City (RWNYC) generated more than $248 million for New York State’s Lottery education fund during the ’17-’18 school year (August-May), according to recently released data. Since opening its doors in 2011, RWNYC has contributed more than $2 billion to New York’s public schools.

As the largest taxpayer in New York State, RWNYC contributes 70 percent of total revenue to New York State and the horse racing industry with 44 percent going directly to the state’s education fund.

This past school year alone, RWNYC generated enough revenue for the education fund to do one of the following:

  • Hire approximately 4,300 new teachers in New York City
  • Supply students across the state with more than 753,000 iPads
  • Buy more than 27 million tickets for students to visit the Museum of Modern Art

Since its founding over 50 years ago, New York’s Lottery has earned more than $61 billion in education support across the state.

“We are incredibly proud to play a role in strengthening New York’s public schools by generating significant revenue for the Lottery’s education fund,” said Scott Molina, president of Resorts World Casino New York City. “These resources play an integral role in providing a high quality education to millions of students across the state.”

Since 2011, Resorts World Casino New York City has also contributed more than $1.7 million in charitable donations, which includes working directly with 79 organizations in Queens to help them achieve fundraising goals.
