CELEBRATE 15 FOR QUEENS: RESORTS WORLD NEW YORK CITY AWARDS $670,000 IN GRANTS TO LOCAL QUEENS NONPROFITS IN HONOR OF ITS 15TH ANNIVERSARY

Resorts World New York City (RWNYC) announced the distribution of $670,000 in grants to 100 Queens-based nonprofits through “Celebrate 15 for Queens,” in honor of its 15th anniversary. Awards included:

  • $10,000 grants to 15 selected nonprofits;

  • $10,000 to one employee-selected organization, and;

  • $5,000 grants to 100 qualified applicants.

    “During the past 15 years, Resorts World New York City has grown into a world-class integrated resort, and our commitment to Queens has grown with it,” said Michelle Stoddart, Senior Vice President of Community Development and Public Affairs at Resorts World New York City. “The strength of this community comes from the organizations doing the work every day. ‘Celebrate 15 for Queens’ is our way of marking this anniversary by investing directly in them, and we are proud to recognize this year’s grant recipients.”

‘Celebrate 15 for Queens’ built on Resorts World’s Day of Giving initiative marking America’s 250th anniversary, which grew from an original $250,000 pledge to $280,000 awarded to 28 New York nonprofits through a public drawing, continuing the company’s track record of community investment throughout its 15th anniversary year. The recipients of the “Celebrate 15 for Queens” $10,000 grants are:

  • Acoustic Memories Inc

The grant announcement also came on the heels of the recent debut of RWNYC’s new International Room, an exclusive high-limit gaming destination that opened October 22 with 48 table games, three private gaming salons and around-the-clock dining. The roughly 13,700-square foot space is part of a broader first-floor expansion that brought RWNYC to a total of nearly 300 live table games and over 4,000 slot machines.

‘Celebrate 15 for Queens’ and Day of Giving are the latest chapters in RW Gives, the company’s philanthropic program since 2011 spanning Resorts World New York City, Resorts World Catskills and Resorts World Hudson Valley. To date, Resorts World Gives has donated more than $10 million to more than 300 local organizations across five pillars, Community & Economic Development, Health & Wellness, Environment, Civic & Public Affairs, and Arts & Culture, a record of giving back that has grown alongside the company’s own expansion in New York.
