Resorts World New York City Rings in the Year of the Rabbit with Spectacular Lunar New Year Celebration!

Resorts World New York City (RWNYC) welcomed the Year of the Rabbit during its annual Lunar New Year celebration on Monday, January 23. Each year, the Chinese zodiac is believed to bear the characteristics of its namesake animal. This year’s event embodied peace and prosperity and featured festive décor and a celebratory Lion Dance ceremony in the Grand Concourse of the Hyatt Regency JFK Airport at Resorts World New York City.

As part of the celebration, Robert DeSalvio, President, Genting Americas East, Peter Tu, Executive Director of the Flushing Chinese Business Association, and other executives from RWNYC participated in an eye dotting ceremony to protect and bless the property in preparation for the performance by the “lions” from the Wan Chi Ming Hung Gar Institute. Following the dance, there was a red envelope giveaway by the Money God, significant because of the red color of the paper. Wrapping money in red envelopes is expected to bring happiness and blessings on the receivers.

“The Year of the Rabbit symbolizes peace, prosperity, and longevity, and we look forward to incorporating these values throughout the year here at Resorts World New York City,” said Ayesha Ma, Vice President of Asian Marketing, Resorts World New York City. “It’s always an honor to come together with members of the community to celebrate an important holiday such as this. We are excited to see what the new year brings.”

“This was my first time to the casino, and it was easy to see how it attracts members of the community,” said Peter Tu, Executive Director of the Flushing Chinese Business Association. “Queens is full of so much diversity and it’s always refreshing to see local businesses who choose to honor our cultural differences with events such as these.”

RWNYC’s 15 days of exciting events and promotions celebrating the Year of the Rabbit started with the Lucky Rabbit Red Envelope Giveaway during the first seven days of the new year, and will wrap up on Sunday, February 5 with the conclusion of the Gong Xi Fa Cai Cash Drawing, offering a grand prize of $38,888. All Genting Rewards members can participate in these promotions by earning points on any games.

Lunar New Year celebrations also took place at Resorts World Catskills and Resorts World Hudson Valley on Sunday, January 29.
