Resorts World New York City Unveils Latest Exhibit for Renowned Red Wall Art Gallery

Queens, NY – Resorts World New York City announced today a new exhibition is now on display at its renowned Red Wall Art Gallery. “Wildlife and Nature in New York City, 40 Years of Photography by Don Riepe” is presented by the Northeast Chapter of the American Littoral Society. An opening reception for the exhibition, which will be on display through Friday, September 8, took place on Friday, August 11.

“This awe-inspiring collection showcases a remarkable set of images that capture the hidden beauty of the City’s wildlife and natural landscapes that exist right here in our backyard,” said Michelle Stoddart, Senior Vice President of Community Development, Resorts World New York City. “We hope everyone comes to see these incredible works of art.”

“Wildlife and Nature in New York City, 40 Years of Photography by Don Riepe” takes viewers on a unique journey, where they can experience the harmony between urban life and nature while viewing the remaining natural landscape of NYC. The exhibition utilizes an interactive augmented reality feature where visitors can scan a QR code and then the image, bringing the photos to life so they can immerse themselves in the breathtaking landscapes. A majority of the photos were taken within the marshlands of Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge, the only federally operated wildlife refuge in the National Park System, located right here in New York City.

Don Riepe is known as “The Jamaica Bay Guardian” in the community and has worked for the American Littoral Society for many years by way of its Northeast Chapter office, located in Broad Channel, Queens. He has been photographing wildlife and nature in Jamaica Bay and NYC for the past 40 years. His photographs have been published in Scientific American, National Wildlife, Audubon, Defenders, Underwater Naturalist, Parade and The New York Times.

The Red Wall Art Gallery was created in 2012 to showcase work by aspiring and local artists, photographers, and textile makers, in conjunction with community arts organizations. It’s an extension of RWNYC’s commitment to support economic development in the community, and to work with local cultural organizations to expose arts and culture to its guests.
