President of Genting America’s East Celebrated for Resorts World’s Partnership Over More Than a Decade
Robert DeSalvio, President of Genting America’s East and the driving force behind Resorts World New York City (RWNYC), was recognized this weekend at the 2023 Jamaica Hospital Medical Center. The November 11th event celebrated the hospital’s remarkable partnership with RWNYC as a good neighbor since the facility opened in Southeast Queens a dozen years ago.
“Jamaica Hospital has been a beacon in this community for more than a century,” said Robert DeSalvio, President of Genting America’s East. “Resorts World New York City has been honored to be a partner for the last twelve years of that journey. My hope – and the hope of this company – is to continue to be the best neighbor possible to Jamaica Hospital as we continue to build a healthier, more prosperous Queens.”
The facility has consistently shown unwavering support for the medical center’s mission. Their philanthropic efforts have been extensive and impactful, including donations to Jamaica Hospital’s world-class cancer care; a fruitful partnership in organizing the Employee Health Fair; and providing vital support to the hospital’s frontline heroes during the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2020, RWNYC provided essential supplies, including a $10,000 donation for protective equipment, as well as $15,000 to purchase iPads for patients in the COVID-19 ward, enhancing connectivity and patient experience during their treatment. Recognizing the significance of Jamaica Hospital as the closest medical facility to RWNYC, this honor was a testament to the enduring bond between the two entities.
RWNYC also financially supported the remodeling of the children’s wing to ensure the hospital’s youngest patients have a smooth experience as they go through the emergency waiting area and inpatient unit. But being a good neighbor also means donating one’s time, which is why RWNYC leadership met with pediatric patients and read to them on D.E.A.R. Day.
The facilities’ commitment to Jamaica Hospital speaks to RWNYC’s largest investment in the Queens community. Since the 2011 launch of Resorts World Gives, the philanthropic program has given over $5 million to more than 200 community organizations including the Boys and Girls Club of Metro Queens and the Jamaica Center for Arts and Learning.
